How the composite is built
Three steps, in this order. The methodology page has the full detail.

Collect
Each university's position in the latest edition of QS, Times Higher Education, ARWU (ShanghaiRanking) and U.S. News Best Global Universities, with the edition and publication date kept alongside.
- 2
Combine
Each position becomes a percentile of the institutions that ranking covers, and the available percentiles are averaged with equal weight into a score out of 100. The composite rank is the order of that score.

Next to every composite we keep the best and worst placement, so you can see at a glance whether the publishers agree.
